As of the 1st January 2012, Council no longer has the responsibility for licencing the storage of flammable and combustible liquids as previously required by the Dangerous Goods Safety Management Act 2011. This Act repealed on the 01/01/2012 by the Work Health and safety Act 2011. However, Council still regulates the Envrionmentally Relevant Activity of chemical storage as required by the Environmental Protection Act 1994.
All enquiries in respect of flammable and combustible liquids should now be directed to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, part of the Department of Justice and Attorney General's Office. To visit their website for information click here.
