The Townsville Arts Awards recognise outstanding contributions made to our city's vibrant cultural life each year, and is an event hosted annually by Townsville City Council. The Awards are specifically locally-focused and designed to bring attention to the creativity, events, productions and people responsible for giving Townsville the name that it has as a producer of excellence in arts and culture in northern Australia. The RADF Program supports professional artists and artsworkers to practice their art, for and with communities, resulting in mutual development of the professional artists/artsworkers and communities in regional Queensland. Funding rounds close the last Friday of March and October each year. Read more. |

Council’s three-year plan for arts and culture intends to recognise, support and promote the diversity of lifestyle, backgrounds and creative expression of the communities of Townsville by encouraging understanding and appreciation of culture in all its forms whatever its social or national origin.
Respectful that arts and cultural expression and a creative approach to life have a role to play in often unconsidered arenas such as responsible governance and care for the environment, implementation of the Townsville Arts and Culture Strategic Action Plan will contribute to council’s goals of Social and Economic Sustainability.
The program aims to support emerging Year 11 Townsville orchestral musicians with the costs of tuition and professional development. Council delivers this scholarship in partnership with the Australian Festival of Chamber Music. Read more.
