Townsville City Council acknowledges the significance of families in creating a strong and healthy community. This Family Charter provides a set of foundation statements which underpin the council's role with regard to families and family life in Townsville.

The Family Charter is an affirmation of families and a confirmation of council's continuing commitment to making the City of Townsville a family focussed community. It reflects the ongoing commitment to existing family focussed programs such as library services, child care and family support services, playground and park facilities, aged care services, and cultural programs.
