Townsville's Water Quality Improvement Plan
The Black Ross (Townsville) Water Quality Improvement Plan (WQIP) has been prepared by Creek to Coral and its partners with funding from the Australian Government’s Coastal Catchments Initiative (CCI) program. The WQIP is based on Total Water Cycle Management principles and focuses principally on the management of urban and peri-urban stormwater related issues. Draft Environmental Values and water quality objectives for Townsville region waters
The Queensland Government has established draft environmental values and water quality objectives for the waters of the Townsville region under the Environmental Protection (Water) Policy 2009. Waters include those of the Black and Ross River basins, Magnetic Island and coastal waters.
These are derived from information in the Black-Ross Water Quality Improvement Plan (Townsville City Council; 2010), available local water quality data, Great Barrier Reef water quality guidelines, and the Queensland water quality guidelines. Interested parties are invited to have their say on the draft documents.
Submissions close on 31 August 2012.
