Townsville City Council provides a range of workshops to enhance the skills of the community throughout the year. For more information about upcoming workshops please contact Council during business hours, or if the workshop is being held outside of business hours, please contact the venue.

Costs and how-to-book information vary with from workshop to workshop as different Council departments provide a range of workshops that are uniquely relative to their area of interest. Specific details about costs and booking requirements are provided for each workshop.

Introduces community-based social marketing and provides participants with the knowledge they need to deliver cost-effective programs. The introductory workshop covers how to: select behaviours and identify their barriers; use behaviour change “tools” to design more effective programs; pilot test programs; and evaluate the impact of a program following implementation. Building upon the knowledge obtained from either attending an introductory workshop or having read Dr McKenzie-Mohr’s book, ‘Fostering Sustainable Behavior – An Introduction to Community-Based Social Marketing’, the workshop provides an in-depth exposure to the use of community-based social marketing. Participants will have extensive opportunity to discuss the application of community-based social marketing to their own programs. (morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea provided)
