What constitutes a Non Private Swimming Pool?
A Swimming Pool used, conducted or maintained in association with any multiple dwelling, hotel, motel, caravan park, school, hospital or institution or any other swimming pool declared by Council by resolution to be a Non-Private Swimming Pool.

Registration of Non-Private Pools
Non-private swimming pools are regulated under former Townsville City Council Local Law Chapter 17. All Non-Private Swimming Pools are required to be registered with Council. Registration is renewed annually and fees apply.
Non-private swimming pools are not required to be registered under the former Thuringowa City Council local laws.
Transfer of Registration
A non-private swimming pool registration can be transfered to another party. An application will be required to be completed and accompanied by the transfer fee on submission to Council.
Purpose of Registration
The purpose of registration of non-private swimming pools is to ensure they are maintained in a safe manner fit for public use.
Council conducts routine water sampling on all non-private swimming pools to ensure water quality is maintained to the required levels. Adequate fencing and appropriate signage is also monitored.
Breaches
If you have a concner that a non-private swimming pool is not adequately maintained, contact Council to lodge a complaint. Your name, address and a contact phone number will be required together with the location of the property in question. Personal details are of a confidential nature.
Certificate of Compliance
As the owner of a registered non-private swimming pool, you can request a certificate of fitness to determine compliance with the relevant local law. An inspection will be carried out an authorised Council Officer and a report will be given to you in regards to any areas on non-compliance.
