What is the NDRRA program of works?
The Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) is the Commonwealth Government provided funding arrangement to assist payment for natural disaster relief and recovery costs to State and Local governments.
It is the primary mechanism used by the Queensland Government for providing assistance to communities affected by natural disaster events across the state. For more information about the NDRRA program view the Queensland Government website, www.qldreconstruction.org.au
What is the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA)?
The QRA was established to manage the funding available to Queensland Local Governments.
The Queensland Reconstruction Authority has been established as a statutory authority for the efficient and effective coordination of the reconstruction effort, across Queensland, of the damage caused by the weather events of summer 2010-11.

Why does Townsville need assistance from the NDRRA program?
The 2009/10 and 2010/11 (including tropical cyclone Yasi, category 5) wet seasons are eligible disaster events.
This has resulted in significant damage to essential public assets across the Townsville region including roads, parks and other infrastructure requiring restoration works.
This allows council to apply to the QRA for funding from the NDRRA to assist with restoration works required to bring essential public assets back to predisaster strandrad/level of service, in accordance with current engineering standards/requirements and building codes/guidelines,while maintaining the same asset class and/or immunity level.
Who is involved with delivering the NDRRA program of works?
As part of the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) Townsville City Council has contracted Abigroup to project manage the rebuilding works across Townsville.
