Welcome to Townsville
On 15 March 2008, history was made when the cities of Townsville and Thuringowa united with NQ Water to form the largest regional city in Queensland.
As Mayor, I am committed to ensuring the new Townsville City Council is progressive and working for the best interest of the entire city and its residents.
My focus – and that of my fellow councillors – is to support the lifestyle and services we value so strongly in Townsville, while managing the growth that has produced a thriving and diverse economy for the city.
Council’s many services are detailed on this website, and include everything from how to pay council bills online, to information about our many community events.
There is also plenty of information about our backyard and the variety it has to offer – including places to cycle, walk and camp.
These places, along with the many activities carried out and supported by council, provide us with an enviable lifestyle – and are just some of the reasons why a growing number of people are now calling Townsville home.
For newcomers to our city, we have produced the Guide for New Residents to introduce you to all of these things Townsville has to offer and to help you get settled.
I would encourage you to regularly visit our website as you may find policies and procedures could change as they are reviewed by the council.
You will find the website is also constantly updated with the latest events and council news so you can be informed about the best this city has to offer.
I trust you will find this information of use in learning more about our wonderful community.
