Perc Tucker Regional Gallery provides a range of art classes for children, teens and adults at the Gallery throughout the year.
Adult Bookmaking classes with Adele Outteridge
Based in Brisbane, Adele Outteridge is known for her artist books, prints, sculptures and drawings. Outteridge has exhibited widely and her work is held in private and public collections nationally and internationally, including the collections of Perc Tucker Regional Gallery and State Library of Queensland. Adele will present two distinct workshops exploring bookmaking techniques, coinciding with her showcase exhibition. Places are limited for both workshops, so bookings are essential. To book, download the corresponding enrolement form, complete it and return to Perc Tucker Regional Gallery.
Creative Bookmaking: Coptic Binding
Coptic binding is one of the oldest forms of bookbinding we know, dating from about the fourth century AD. In this workshop we shall explore a Greek or Ethiopian variation of Coptic binding. Participants will produce a hard covered, multi-section book where the sewing forms attractive chains across the exposed spine. Participants will also look at a couple of different hard cover types using fabric or paper to cover the boards.

Books Without Sewing
There are many people who want to make books but balk at the idea of complicated sewing techniques. This workshop is designed for them. Participants will be introduced to the delights of making books without sewing a stitch. Participants will make slot books, piano hinge books, flag books, star and caterpillar books with soft and hard covers, also a folded slip cover.
