Grants and funding

Together Townsville

Have your say on sport and rec

The Townsville City Council provides grants to individuals and clubs. If you are representing Queensland or Australia in a recognised sporting event, the Grant for Excellence may assist you. If your club is looking to build infrastructure and looking for financial assistance, the Sport and Recreation Facility Assistance Program may assist your club. Keep an eye out for state and national sport and recreation grants that may assist you or your club.

Council wants to make a difference at a local level; hence the establishment of Together Townsville. This partnership program promotes mutually beneficial collaborations between businesses and the community.

The Townsville City Council Sport and Recreation team would like to hear from you. The Sport and Recreation team is always looking for ways to improve the services to the community of Townsville. If you have any feedback or suggests on the services provided, please email sport@townsville.qld.gov.au.

Community Training Workshops

Community training workshops are provided by the Townsville City Council free to sport and recreation clubs. The training workshops provide clubs with the information and knowledge to run and maintain their club facilities, administration and members.

Club Development Resources

Please watch this space. The Sport and Recreation Department will be over time providing useful resources to local clubs in the area of club development.

License to Occupy

Townsville City Council is the trustee of reserve land on behalf of the Queensland Government. A License to Occupy (LTO) is a long term agreement between an organisation and Council, clarifying the roles and responsibilities of the organisation that regularly occupies the open space to deliver a community service. Please contact Sport and Recreation at sport@townsville.qld.gov.au if you would like further information on applying for an LTO.

For further information or resources on club development please visit the Australian Sports Commission club development resource library.
