Bunnings and Foto Bitz Rev it Up for Race week
Date: Thursday, 9th July 2009
Black and white checks and plenty of V8 spirit is on display across Townsville, and more than 20 businesses have vied for the title of the inaugural best dressed Dunlop Townsville 400 shop-front.
The competition was organised by the Dunlop Townsville 400 Race Week Committee, a group of volunteers charged with preparing the city for the big race.
The winners were Bunnings in the over 20 employee category and Foto Bitz on Charters Towers Road in the under 20 employee category.
"Bunnings displayed outrageous creativity, enthusiasm and a sense of humour that will keep customers chuckling through their multiple aisles," Townsville 400 Race Week committee member, Bridget Hart said.
"The team at Bunnings came up with fantastic entertaining ideas to enhance their store and get into the spirit of the Festival.”
The category of businesses with less than 20 employees saw 13 entries throughout the city. The judges had a tough decision on their hands with passion and creativity evident in many entries.
Foto Bitz showed fine form and a keen eye for detail, and close runner up was Daisy’s Café & Take Away – both just a short walk from the Race track.
"It was great to see so many businesses showing their race colours in the first year of the Dunlop Townsville 400 V8 Supercars race," Ms Hart said.
"It was obvious that the business community overall were keen to welcome guests to our city and encourage locals to embrace the race festival.”
