New Year's Eve 2009

Townsville City Council will host New Years Celebrations across the city to bring in the new decade.

The main party will be at Riverway from 6pm to 1am with loads of activities and entertainment for the whole family.

Fireworks displays

Townsville City Council will produce no less than five pyrotechnics displays across the city. Displays will be staged at three locations:

• Strand firings on barges offshore from Strand Park at 8pm and midnight
• Riverway firings at 9pm and midnight
• Nelly Bay firing at midnight

Riverway activities

New Eve Family celebrations at Riverway with fireworks, amusement rides, late night swimming, huge entertainment stage, food and refreshments including a licensed bar.

Local super group to perform

Two of Townsville’s best loved music acts, Mamma’s Cookin and Cranky Pants, will perform live at Riverway’s New Year’s Eve Celebrations. The bands are busily rehearsing for the big night, including the once-off formation of a super group, Cranky Mammas, to do a huge set just before and after midnight.
