Book Clubs and Author Talks
Book Clubs
If you are interested in reading, meeting people and discussing books then a book club is a great pastime for you.
At the moment the Citylibraries hosts five book clubs and also supply kits to many external groups. The groups are a mix of community, networking and gathering of friends.
Book clubs have become very popular recently and as such most of the Library hosted groups are at full capacity but if you are interested in a group contact us and perhaps we can put you in touch with another group or you could start your own group and we can help you with resources and assistance.
A selection from our latest reading lists:
- Red Dust by Jian Ma (autobiography)
- The Sea by John Banville
- Winter Journey by Diane Armstrong
- Perfume by Patrick Susskind
- Lucy Family Alphabet by Judith Lucy
- Fat Forty and Fired by Nigel Marsh
- The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
Author Talks
CityLibraries regularly hosts author talks and book launches. In the past we have had the pleasure of hosting many local and nationally renowned authors including Bryce Courtenay, Dick Gledhill, Roni Askey Doran, Tamara McKinley, and Barbara Hannay. Keep an eye on all of our CityLibraries listings in the Events Calendar for up and coming author talks and workshops of interest to readers and writers.
If you are interested in book clubs please contact Programs Officer at the Aitkenvale Branch on 4727 8325 or by email.
