For Children

CityLibraries hosts a range of facilities, activities, events and programs for children. Children of any age are entitled to a library card and enjoy the same borrowing privileges as adults.
Storytime
One of our most popular regular programs is Storytime - a mix of stories, rhymes, and a simple activity with sessions lasting for around and hour. Storytime is held at our Aitkenvale, Flinders Street, and Thuringowa Central branches, and on Magnetic Island. The sessions are aimed at preschool children with activities to help parents introduce their children to a wide range of children's books, stimulate new ideas and interests, develop language skills, provide an opportunity to socialise with other children and encourage a life-long interest in books and libraries.
