The Strand
The Strand is a 2.2km world-class beachfront promenade custom-built for enjoyment. Along this palm tree studded stretch are bike and walkway paths, safe swimming beaches, picturesque picnic spots, a water park and chic restaurants and bars with to-die-for water views.
The Strand is a facility that provides the opportunity for people of all ages to be physically active in their daily life. It is an environment that encourages people in the Townsville community, of all ages, to be out and about in their local community.
You can enjoy the free family fun of the water park, fish off the pier, choose to get active with a jog, or simply laze on Australia's Cleanest Beach and enjoy the million dollar views to Magnetic Island. The Strand offers the best of all worlds.
Boasting an average of 300 days of sunshine each year, The Strand caters for everyone.

| Rock Pool |
Closures: The Rock Pool is closed every Thursday for cleaning and maintenance.

| Water Park |
Closures: The Water Park is closed every Tuesday and Wednesday for cleaning and maintenance (except it is open daily on Queensland Public Holidays, and during Queensland and New South Wales State School Holidays).
Operating hours: 10am to 6pm April & May, 10am to 5pm June to August, 10am to 6pm September to November; and 10am to 8pm December to March.
Lifeguard: A lifeguard is provided during weekends; Queensland Public Holidays; and Queensland and New South Wales State School Holidays.
Currently no issues.

| Beaches |
Operating hours: Currently open and patrolled by Surf Life Saving Queensland from 9am to 5pm until 30 November; 10am to 6pm from 01 December until end Queensland State School Easter holidays.
Stinger Resistant Enclosures are currently installed from November until May, pending drags by Surf Life Saving Queensland. (Nets removed on 18 May 2009)
