The Strand
The Strand is a 2.2km world-class beachfront promenade custom-built for enjoyment. Along this palm tree studded stretch are bike and walkway paths, safe swimming beaches, picturesque picnic spots, a water park and chic restaurants and bars with to-die-for water views.
The Strand is a facility that provides the opportunity for people of all ages to be physically active in their daily life. It is an environment that encourages people in the Townsville community, of all ages, to be out and about in their local community.
You can enjoy the free family fun of the water park, fish off the pier, choose to get active with a jog, or simply laze on golden beaches and enjoy the million dollar views to Magnetic Island. The Strand offers the best of all worlds.

| Rock Pool |
The Rock Pool is closed every Thursday for cleaning and maintenance.
Currently no issues.

| Water Park |
The Water Park is closed every Tuesday and Wednesday for cleaning and maintenance (open on Queensland Public Holidays).
Operating hours 10am to 5pm. A lifeguard is provided during weekends and Queensland Public Holidays.

| Beaches |
Currently open and patrolled from 9am to 5pm.

| Road Closures |
Saturday 16 August between 2.30pm and 5pm:
The whole of The Strand from Howitt Street to Oxley Street including sections of Howitt Street, Isley Street, Gregory Street and Oxley Street will be closed for the purpose of conducting the Tropigo Carnival Parade as part of Cultural Fest 2008.
Police and security will be on duty to manage the road closures.
Council apologises for any inconvenience.
