Long Tan Memorial Pool Master Plan - Have Your Say

In 2008, Council completed the Aquatic Facilities Master Plan which examined the future of Townsville public pools. The plan investigated redeveloping the aging facilities to entail varied facility mixes to meet different and specific sections of the community aquatic market needs. Long Tan Memorial Pool will remain the region's principal competition pool catering mainly for higher order and elite facility needs and regional competition. The long term future facility mix of the Long Tan Pool is proposed to include:

10 lane competition pool

Pavilion including a redevelopment of the existing 25m indoor heated program pool and the development of an toddler pool

Possible future additional 50m training and warm down pool

New enclosed reception, first aid and change rooms/amenities

The future facility mix is dependent on funding.

A final concept design will be available on Council's website in July 2009.
