General Waste…Your red lid bin
All new bins have red-lids as required by Australian Standards. This means some residents will have the new red lid bins but some residents will still have the old green lid bins. They are both for domestic rubbish.
The red lid bin is for general household waste and is collected weekly.
Ensure your bin is out by 6am on the day of collection. Find out when your bin will be collected.
Your general waste bin should be used for all non-recyclable items including:
- Food scraps
- Disposable nappies
- Ceramics and ovenware
- Small broken household items
- Non-recyclable plastic & glass
- Styrofoam
- Food packaging
Some items should not be placed in your red-lid bin.
- Building materials - bricks, rocks, soil or concrete
- Car batteries
- Hot ashes
- Tree stumps
- Motor parts
- Oils, solvents or paints
- Soil
- Hazardous waste including chemicals, medicines, mobile phones, gas cylinders
