Experience Townsville - Life in the Tropics

Townsville is often characterised by its relaxed, tropical lifestyle which leverages off the beauty and charm of the city's natural surrounds. With the idyllic paradise of Magnetic Island right at its doorstep, a diverse mix of rainforest, sandy beaches, world-class reef and diving experiences, outback bush and big city benefits, Townsville has something for every holiday itinerary.

The Experience Townsville Life in the Tropics publication gives a great overview of the city, including a brief history, overview of Townsville's city and sporting precincts and information on key regional destinations. A city map on the inside of the publication orientates visitors around our beautiful tropical city, and allows them to locate key attractions, facilities and services.

Experience Townsville's Bird Watching

Townsville is a bird watcher's paradise, with numerous bird watching locations within the Townsville region. This comprehensive brochure details ten of the most accessible and diverse birding locations in the region, and outlines the 25 bird species most likely to be seen in each location. The locations range from easy short walks to whole day or overnight trips that take you from suburbia to the edge of the outback, through pristine rainforests to the sands and mangroves, local beaches and to the picturesque Magnetic Island. For the keen bird watcher, this publication also includes extensive check list of over 350 birds found in the Townsville region. The Experience Townsville's Bird Watching brochure is a must have for any bird watcher visiting North Queensland!

Further bird watching information can be found on the Townsville Region Bird Observers Club at www.trboc.org.au.

Experience the Paluma Region

The majestic rainforest township of Paluma is located approximately 70km north of Townsville, nestled in the Paluma Range National Park at the southernmost end of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Paluma is famous for its lush tropical rainforest, scenic lake, walking tracks, spectacular lookouts, creeks and swimming holes. An abundance of native flora and fauna, cool mountain climate and convenient lack of mobile phone coverage makes the Paluma region the perfect weekend escape. Travelling past Paluma through the Eucalyptus Grandis forest will take you to the small community of Hidden Valley, which by contrast to Paluma is set in a charming rustic bush setting. The Experience the Paluma Region brochure gives an introduction to the region, its history, wildlife, walking tracks, maps, suggested itineraries and more.

Experience Townsville's Northern Beaches

Townsville's Northern Beaches precinct is located just north of Townsville adjacent to the Bruce Highway. The area extends from Bushland Beach to Balgal Beach, encompassing Saunders, Toolakea and Toomulla along the way – a total of five seemingly endless beaches.

The unspoiled coastline, coupled with picturesque natural bushland, enables each beach to offer unique attractions, activities and experiences. The Northern Beaches are the perfect place to visit, stay and explore.
