Heritage and Building Conservation Awards
2006
The Townsville City Council Heritage and Building Conservation Awards were held on Friday 28 April 2006 at the Old Magistrates Court, Townsville with former councillor John Robertson presenting the awards to the winners. Each winner received a cash prize of $1000, a framed certificate and a professional photograph of the project.
2006 Award Winners
Category 1 Heritage Renovation Award - Residential
This category seeks to promote and recognise work that is sympathetic to the heritage characteristics of the property and the overall streetscape.
Winner: 370 Stanley Street

Commendation: 33 Stagpole Street

Commendation: 37 Rose Street

Category 2 Heritage Renovation Award - Commercial
This category seeks to promote and recognise work that is sympathetic to the heritage characteristics of the property and the overall streetscape.
Winner: Powerhouse Community Centre

Category 3 Heritage Conservation Award
Nominations for this category are open to owners of residential and commercial heritage listed properties who have undertaken heritage conservation work.
Winner: Saints Theodore's Greek Orthodox Church

Category 4 Sympathetic New Development Award
This category is aimed at new developments in close proximity to a heritage place, places and/or precincts.

Category 5 Community Education and Promotion Award
This award aims to recognise the contributions made by individuals and groups to educate, promote, or foster positive appreciation of the value of heritage to the wider community.

Winners 2006 Heritage and Building Conservation Awards

The aim of the Heritage and Building Conservation Awards is to recognise the contributions made by property owners, architects, builders, businesses, and interest groups in contributing to the City's urban environment and conserving Townsville's heritage and historic buildings.
The awards ceremony was held at the Old Magistrate Court on Sturt Street, on 28 April 2006.
