Townsville City Council is pleased to provide access to the new live-time camera mounted on Castle Hill.

Locations

Now you can enjoy views from the north eastern side of Castle Hill, taking in Magnetic Island, Townsville city, Casino and Port vicinity, Strand Park, Gregory Street, Rowes Bay, a Castle Hill look-out, and a view towards the Water Park.

Viewers can take control of the camera and sweep between locations, zooming in and out. You can also take a digital snapshot of the view.

Other viewers can still view the camera while a viewer has control.  They will see the same view that the controlling view sees as they move the camera.

Controls

The controls are simple to use, and only one viewer at a time can take control of the camera.

Options

Camera Locations: Along the bottom, you can select from eight views that are listed in the drop box.

Zoom: On the right, you can zoom in and out.

Snapshot: On the bottom left, you can take a digital snapshot.

Control Button: On the bottom right, you have the camera control button.

Timed sessions and queues 

Control sessions are timed, and when access expires, it is automatically granted to the next viewer in the virtual queue.

A countdown is provided alerting you to how long you will be waiting in the queue until control is granted.

Once you have control of the camera, you will be provided with a countdown of how much time you have left at the controls.

After an extended period of time, the camera will break your connection to avoid forgotten connections.  Refresh your browser window to re-establish your connection.
