Townsville 400 Traffic Changes

The Supercars Watpac Townsville 400 will be held Friday 6 - Sunday 8 July 2018.

Traffic Restrictions and Road Closures

Works to install the track and various other infrastructure will occur in the lead-up to the event and will be deconstructed in the days following the race. Traffic diversions will be in place before, during and after the Supercars Townsville 400 event. Delays can be expected and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

Please be advised there will be changes in traffic with road closures and traffic restrictions commencing at 8pm, Friday 29 June through to 5am, Tuesday 10 July 2018.

Public Transport

Public transport is the recommended event travel option.

Bus Services

FREE shuttle service for ticket holders on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 July. Further information is available from Sunbus Townsville www.sunbus.com.au

Ferry Services

Increased ferry services will operate during the event. Timetables are available at: www.sealinkqld.com.au

Taxis

Taxis will drop off and pick up from Gate 1 and Gate 3.

Queensland Rail - Townsville Station

Access to the QR Railway Station located on Charters Towers Road is maintained during the event. Please proceed to the Ingham Street / Flinders Street West / Charters Towers Road intersection where traffic controllers assisted by Queensland Police will provide direction to accessing the platform.

Illegal parking, or parking causing an impediment for a local resident to access their home or business will be monitored and will result in a fine or the vehicle being towed.

Car Park Closures

Flinders Street East Car Park (closest to Bully’s Nightclub)

Half of the car park will be closed from Thursday 5 July to Sunday 8 July.

Sturt Street Car Park between Walker and Sturt Street

From Friday 6 July to Sunday 8 July.

These car parks are restricted to Emergency Services access only.

Regulated Parking Area

A regulated event parking area will be in place around Reid Park.

The regulated area is in place to stop non-residents from parking on the streets affected and will be in force from 7am–7pm on Friday 6, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 July 2018.

A two hour limit will apply to any vehicle parked on the street during this time. Fines will apply.

Residents living within the regulated area will be required to display a Resident Parking Permit. These will be posted to residents prior to the event.
