Townsville 400 Traffic Changes

The Supercars Watpac Townsville 400 is here from Friday 7 - Sunday 9 July 2017.

This is a major event for our city and Council wishes to advise of traffic and parking changes in the area to accommodate both patrons, residents and businesses during the event.

Traffic Restrictions and Road Closures

Works to install the track and various other infrastructure will occur in the lead-up to the event and will be deconstructed in the days following the race. Traffic diversions will be in place before, during and after the Supercars Townsville 400 event. Delays can be expected and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

Please be advised there will be changes in traffic with road closures and traffic restrictions commencing on Friday 30 June - Tuesday 11 July 2017.

Public Transport

Public transport is the recommended event travel option.

Bus Services

Dean Street Car Park (free)

On street parking near the event precinct is not recommended. See regulated parking area in the map above or the information below.

Illegal parking, or parking causing an impediment for a local resident to access their home or business will be monitored and will result in a fine or the vehicle being towed.

Disabled Persons Access and Parking Disabled parking

Is provided at Gate 1 via Brodie Street and Gate 3 on First Street, Railway Estate

Car Park Closures

Flinders Street East Car Park (closest to Bully’s Nightclub)

Half of the car park will be closed from Thursday 6 July to Sunday 9 July.

Sturt Street Car Park between Walker and Sturt Street

From Friday 7 July to Sunday 9 July.

Regulated Parking Area

A regulated event parking area will be in place around Reid Park.

The regulated area is in place to stop non-residents from parking on the streets affected and will be in force from 7am–7pm on Friday 7, Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July.

A two hour limit will apply to any vehicle parked on the street during this time. Fines will apply.

Residents living within the regulated area will be required to display a Resident Parking Permit. These will be posted to residents prior to the event.
