Corcoran Park Netball Court Upgrade
|Goal||4. A sustainable destination that embraces and participates in the arts, sports and events and recreational activities.|
|Strategic Purpose||To improve Townsville's liveability and encourage active and healthy lifestyles through community infrastructure and creating placemaking activities.|
Townsville City Council in partnership with the Queensland Government is proud to deliver a complete renewal to the netball courts at Corcoran Park, Hermit Park through Works for Queensland Round 5 funding and delivered by JMAC Constructions.
The Works for Queensland program is providing $750,000 funding, with Council contributing $387,000 towards this project.
As part of this upgrade, Council intends to remove the existing netball courts and lights, construct four entirely new netball courts, install associated lighting, and turf and landscape the area. Two of the four netball courts will include markings which will also allow for Pickle Ball, junior netball and Fast 5 netball, providing a wider range of activities for the community to engage in at these facilities.
Construction commenced November 2021, and they are expected to conclude by March 2022, weather and conditions permitting.
Proudly funded by the Queensland Government in association with Townsville City Council.
