Old Flinders Highway Intersection Upgrade

Goal 3. A Future-ready City
Strategic Purpose Deliver safe access for heavy vehicle traffic into the Precinct.
Status In development

Project Overview

The intersection between Old Flinders Highway, Woodstock Avenue and Jones Road will require a significant upgrade to safely support heavy vehicle traffic moving between the Flinders Highway and Lansdown.

The project will upgrade the existing flashing light active controls at the Queensland Rail level crossing to include entry boom gates, widening the crossing to accommodate Type 2 road train heavy vehicles, and raise the existing rail.

It will also deliver a new four-leg intersection including Jones Road, Old Flinders Highway and Woodstock Avenue, with Jones Road established as the priority route and Woodstock Avenue and Old Flinders Highway as the minor approaches.

The works will also involve diverting approximately 245 metres of the Fields Creek waterway and constructing stormwater systems to improve water flow management in line with the new intersection’s location.
