Woodstock Level Crossing Closure

Date published: 28 May 2026

Queensland Rail will be upgrading the level crossing at Old Flinders Highway in Woodstock from Tuesday 9 to Friday 12 June 2026, with a detour in place for traffic via Gunnado Road.

These works form part of the enabling infrastructure for the Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct and are being delivered in cooperation with Townsville City Council.

What will the works include?

Queensland Rail will be upgrading foundations and rail line in the vicinity of the Old Flinders Highway level crossing.

What does this mean for me?

  • A road closure will be in place at the level crossing on Old Flinders Hwy.
  • A detour will be in place for the duration of the closure, directing traffic via Gunnado Road.
    • This is a 12-kilometre detour and residents are encouraged to allow for this when planning daily travel that would otherwise utilise the level crossing.
  • Glenn Road will remain accessible during the works.
  • Residents, business and road users may also experience:
    • Construction machinery and vehicle movement.
    • Increased levels of dust, noise, and vibrations.
    • Temporary traffic changes, including lane closures, temporary traffic lights, minor traffic delays and reduced speed limits.

Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct is Jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government, in association with Townsville City Council.
