About the Artwork
Leaflines, a series of oval vessels, extends my exploration of layered, image‑rich ceramic surfaces by merging porcelain with cyanotype photography. I applied light-sensitive solutions directly onto the fired clay body, and developed photograms using ferns collected and pressed by my mother. Negatives were also used to develop positive images. This photographic imagery becomes embedded within the ceramic surface. The works, which evolve through fired and unfired layers, gathers memory and material, honouring my mother’s botanical research, while preserving and reimagining a shared legacy through light and time.
About the Artist
Mollie Bosworth is a Kuranda-based ceramic artist whose decades-long practice centres on finely thrown porcelain and the creation of layered, image-rich surfaces. Largely self-taught, her work has developed through sustained enquiry, experimentation, and a deep engagement with material processes. She holds a Diploma of Art (Ceramics) from ANU School of Art & Design, Canberra.
Mollie has received significant recognition, including the Siliceous Award (2017), the North Queensland Ceramics Award (2005), and an Honourable Mention in the 3rd World Ceramic Biennale International Competition (2005). Her work is represented in the collections of Manly Art Gallery and Museum, Griffith University, the Townsville City Ceramic Collection, the Queensland State Collection, and the Gold Coast City Art Collection. She has presented two solo exhibitions at Cairns Regional Gallery (2005, 2018), and has exhibited widely across Australia in curated and selected exhibitions. Her work has also appeared in several publications on clay and cyanotype.
