About the Artwork
This body of work uses imaginative ceramic forms to trace the life cycle of plants—from seed to plant to seed. A deliberate sequence of parts moves from one stage to the next, tracing growth and renewal as a visual narrative. Textures and colours recall pods, bark and seeds, linking the tactile to the symbolic. Wheel-thrown forms, combined with hand-built and moulded elements, give rise to an interlocking module: a compact seed capsule, a branch, a stem and a final seed-bearing unit that will continue the cycle. Through this continuum of growth, the work proposes renewal as a continuous act, a quiet assertion that life persists through change.
About the Artist
Carol Forster draws inspiration from the natural environment surrounding her, with her ceramics reflecting her love for nature and a commitment to preserving its beauty for future generations. Carol’s work often embodies a playful spirit, interwoven with a more serious undertone that invites contemplation. As she says: “Each sculptural piece I create is a testament to the joy and challenge of working with clay—an exploration of form, texture, colour and the interplay of light and shadow.”
