About the Artwork
Our three sons are all serving in the Australian Defence Force—one to the country, two to the country, three to the country, none at home. Our youngest son is currently stationed at the Townsville base. Seeing where he works and what he does has been impressive to us as parents. We will always be proud of his achievement, commitment and responsibilities to himself and his country. This work is of my son; I’m honoured to have such a great subject, a great son, to be proud of. Thank you for your service.
About the Artist
Born in Japan, Kako Yokoyama immigrated to Australia and received her BVA and Master of Fine Arts from Sydney University, before moving to Blackheath (Blue Mountains). Her mediums include glass, paper, and paint, among others. She is driven by a search to find where home is, using art as a tool to express her inner world.
