About the Artwork
A young woman drifts through the impeccably manicured grounds of a grand estate, bathed in the soft, enigmatic glow of the moonlight. This photograph captures a moment suspended between reality and aspiration, a visual echo of a desire for a home that feels increasingly out of reach in our contemporary world.
Is this meticulously kept garden, with its silent promise of comfort and security, the landscape of a dream? Perhaps it’s a yearning for stability, for the rootedness that homeownership once symbolised. Yet, the very perfection of the scene hints at an unreality, a fantasy curated by someone else, making the young woman a visitor in a space that is not, and perhaps never will be, her own.
This photograph doesn’t offer answers, but rather invites contemplation on the elusive nature of belonging.
