About the Artwork
Artist Tony Clark is arguably Australia’s most respected, accomplished and distinguished painter. He has explored the interface between painting and sculpture while based in Germany, Sicily, and latterly a beachside tin shed in Mission Beach, Far North Queensland. I made this portrait of Clark in his tin shed studio while he was working on his latest exhibition Unsculpted, a retrospective of the four decades of his practice.
