Jones Road to No-Name Road intersection upgrade

Goal 3. A hub for modern industry
Strategic Purpose

Allow for safe and functional access for construction traffic and enable construction works to commence for the industrial precinct itself.

Status Underway

Project Overview

Townsville City Council is committed to providing essential infrastructure to support the development of Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct (LEIP).

The intersection of Jones Road and No-Name Road will be upgraded as it will become the main entrance into the precinct for construction and operational traffic.

As a result of this work, the road configuration at this intersection will be permanently changed to allow the safe and efficient operation of traffic into and out of the precinct from Jones Road.

Council has awarded the tender for this construction work to local company BMD Constructions.

Works are planned to start from the end of June and take approximately six months.

The project will include:

  • permanent reprioritisation of traffic travelling westbound along Jones Road turning into No-Name Road
  • upgrade of the existing section of Jones Road between No-Name Road and west of the Ergon Substation
  • upgrade of drainage to maintain surface water flow
  • formalising access to three properties connected to Jones Road
  • limited clearing of specific trees on No Name Rd to enable fence construction.

This project is jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government in partnership with Townsville City Council.
