Grant helps Eisteddfod hit the stage for 75th year
The 75th annual Townsville Eisteddfod has been approved for a Townsville City Council community grant worth $24,515.

The grant was approved during the August Ordinary Meeting and covers a venue hire fee waiver for the performing arts event.
Acting Mayor Ann-Maree Greaney said the Townsville Eisteddfod had a long history of supporting North Queensland performers.
“If you ask most of Townsville’s best known dancers, singers, musicians and actors where they got their start, most of them would tell you it was at the annual Eisteddfod,” Cr Greaney said.
The Eisteddfod is a wonderful event that allows performers of all skill levels the chance to take the stage, display their craft and receive valuable feedback from judges across all disciplines.

“Council is always looking for avenues to support up-and-coming creatives, including through providing grant funding to organisations like the Townsville Eisteddfod to deliver arts events.
“Good luck to everyone competing in this year’s 75th annual Townsville Eisteddfod.”
Townsville Eisteddfod president Wendy Lloyd said the organisation was pleased to be able to apply for support for the much-loved community event.
"Townsville Eisteddfod is extremely grateful to receive the Townsville City Council Community Grant worth $24,515, as a major contribution to the running of our 75th Eisteddfod in 2025. This “in-kind’ grant provides the backbone to the running of our program for the 21 days from 6 September to the 27 September 2025,” Ms Lloyd said.
Without this grant, the Townsville Eisteddfod would be unable to remain financially viable.

“This generous support by the Townsville City Council means that thousands of competitors, ranging from soloists to numerous bands, choirs and ensembles, are able to perform using the first class conditions at the Townsville Civic Theatre, a feature that we so proudly promote."

North Queensland Ceramic Awards Call For Artists – Now Open
The biennial North Queensland Ceramic Awards return in 2026.
The awards display the diversity of ceramic art currently being produced in Australia, attracting a high calibre of entries from local and national artists.
The competition is not just for established professional ceramicists – emerging artists from across the country are encouraged to enter.
Entries are now open, and will close 5pm, Tuesday 7 July 2026.
Ceramists will be vying for the acquisitive $10,000 City of Townsville Art Collection Award, plus the $1,000 People’s Choice Award.
Selected works will be on display at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery from 19 September 2026 – 17 January 2027.
