Mayor Nick Dametto:

So I'm very proud this morning on behalf of Townsville City Council and the State Government to be delivering this brand new Hilux to the SES here in Townsville.

Mark Tyrrell:

Thank you.

Mayor Nick Dametto:

It's all right it's all yours.

It's the perfect time to be handing over a vehicle like this as we're heading into the cyclone season in the wet season.

Having a vehicle like this, the right tools for the job during the wet season will make these guys' lives, and the ladies that volunteer for the SES so much easier.

Mark Tyrrell:

This vehicle, this particular vehicle is a godsend.

This vehicle is what we need.

We've designed and laid it out as cheaply as possible.

It's now our primary vehicle for all activations as of 9 o'clock this morning and so people will see this vehicle out.

Mayor Nick Dametto:

Having a purpose build vehicle with all the right kit makes it so much easier to deliver those services and help people, those people that need a helping hand during the cyclone season, flooding season to make sure that when they call for help, rescue and help will be there.

With the support of the State Government and the Townsville City Council, the Townsville SES will have the right tools for the job coming into this wet season.
