About the Artwork
To celebrate my mate Mick’s 50th birthday, I created a special surprise artwork that holds personal significance. Mick has a profound affection for his Border Collies Ruby and Annie, affectionately known as ‘double trouble’. Both dogs are renowned for their boundless energy and remarkable intelligence, making them a lively presence and a challenge to keep still—unless there’s food involved, which never fails to capture their attention.
This artwork became even more meaningful as a tribute to Ruby, who has sadly passed away recently.
About the Artist
Jason (‘Jase’) Rickert is a Townsville-based emerging artist. He describes his works as rustic and lyrical. Outside of portraiture, he enjoys depicting the deeper layers of culture, land and its psyche. Most of his works are painted with feathers, providing unique compositions, fluid lines in texture and rhythm. Some of his abstract work is deeply subjective, inviting viewers to uncover layers of meaning shaped by the unique contexts he explores. He also likes to capture the essence of the Australian landscape, delving into its mythical past, present, and the relationship between nature and humanity.
Jase has an Associate Diploma of Commercial Art with Honours in Illustration and Design.
