About the Artwork
This portrait shows my rescue greyhound Lara modelled entirely in plasticine. A former racing greyhound, Lara is deeply affectionate and gentle, inviting people to reconsider assumptions and recognise greyhounds as loving, dignified companions. She is shown here relaxed yet alert, wearing a patterned hound tee that contrasts with her sleek black form.
About the Artist
Katrina Wheaton is an emerging artist based in Sunraysia, Victoria, and an experienced art and design educator. Inspired by her adopted greyhounds, Amy and Lara, her current practice focuses on greyhound art and explores diverse styles and mediums in creative and innovative ways.
