About the Artwork

Captain Garry is my lifetime muse—my dad. He is the one person I can always rely on to do a sitting for me. I have drawn and painted him since I was 16 years old. Often, he would fall asleep in the chair as I drew him. He looks like an old sea captain with his beanie and bushy beard. He never owned a boat but proudly owned a black canoe that he would take my siblings and I out on the local lake for sea adventures.
