About the Artwork
This artwork is a deeply personal portrait intended to celebrate the life of my Uncle Darren, who has become a vital role model over the last five years.
I chose him due to his profound journey ‘from darkness to light’. Though his past included time in the justice system, his story offered me silent guidance to avoid a similar path, anchoring a deep, honest bond. The portrait was compelled by my Uncle’s recent health struggles and my desire to dismantle his self-doubt and past regrets.
Ultimately, the piece is a gift to show immense pride and to acknowledge the beautiful, loving soul and source of unconditional support he has become, transferring the healing power of art back to him.
