About the Artwork

Ross Potter is a Kamilaroi man living and working as a full-time artist on Wudjuk Noongar Boodjar, Walyalup/Fremantle. He works with graphite and paper to produce highly detailed, often large-scale representations of his subjects.

Through magnifying microscopic features, Ross brings the abstractions of reality to our attention, while telling compelling stories of everyday life, questioning our relationship with nature and the environment.

Made with natural light and a portable background within the grounds of Fremantle Arts Centre, this portrait is one from a decade-long series in which I document the people I meet.
