“Flick your hair, Mum”, he said—and she did. In that simple request lives the heart of this image. Taken by an eight-year-old, this photograph captures the freedom of being exactly who you are when you are seen through a child’s eyes. There is no performance here, only trust: a mum letting go, a child delighting in the moment he’s creating. Her hair lifts with playful abandon, her expression is calm and unguarded, framed by the innocent confidence of being loved without condition. This is natural beauty as children understand it—not perfection, but presence. A fleeting moment of joy, guided by love, and held forever.
About the Artist
Travis is an eight-year-old emerging photographer from Townsville with a natural curiosity for capturing the world around him. Currently in early primary school, he enjoys experimenting with the camera and exploring how moments, movement and expressions can be frozen in time—purely for fun. With no formal or professional experience, Travis approaches photography with playful confidence and imagination, often turning the lens on the people and moments he loves most. Outside of photography, he is an avid soccer player and enjoys riding his bike, bringing the same energy and enthusiasm to his creative pursuits. Travis’s images reflect childlike honesty, joy, and a fearless sense of self-expression.
