About the Artwork

A derelict Mobil garage in the Perth hills provides the background for the wearing of the red dress. Out of context with the faded horse logo, it seems to awaken the past and provides a new energy. Julie, a perfect fit, embraces and completes the tying together of the old and the new.

About the Artist

Kerrie Di Cataldo is a Perth-based photographer, whose work encompasses film and digital techniques. Kerrie is interested in the emotional response generated by the photographic medium. When elements align, narrative is revealed. Since undertaking ‘The Compelling Portrait’ course with Toni Wilkinson (Perth Centre for Photography) in 2024, Kerrie’s focus has concentrated on portraiture. Her aim is to portray the essence of the sitter, in turn revealing a passion or personality commensurate with the setting. Kerrie has been a finalist in numerous exhibitions, won several awards, held one solo exhibition, and continues to embrace the photographic medium in its ability to engage and invite contemplation.
