Francoise Lane – Painting Prize Panel

Francoise Lane is a descendant of the Meriam and Kaurareg peoples of Zenadth Kes. She lives and works on Yidinji Country (Gordonvale, Far North Queensland). As a multidisciplinary artist, curator and designer, Francoise’s creative practice straddles the intersection of art and design, drawing upon her family’s cultural values of respecting and caring for land, sea, kin and community.
She holds a Bachelor of Built Environment (Interior Design) from QUT, and is co-founder and co-director of Indij Architecture and Design, which brings Indigenous design values into built environment projects. Francoise was Artistic Director of Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (2022–24), and was a judge for the Brisbane Portrait Prize in 2024 and 2025.
