Created by acclaimed theatre-maker Kaz Therese and The King Coach, Danica Lani, this ground-breaking performance dives deep into the politics of joy, power, and gender, through the lens of trans masc, nonbinary, and lesbian drag kings.
Presented by Cre8ion, Werewold & Kings of Joy, They Will Be Kings unites some of Australia’s most exciting & influential trans activists, drag king performers and award-winning artists to rewrite the queer history of 21st Century Australia.

Facilitated by Danica Lani (The King Coach), King For A Day has been created for local LGBTQIA+ participants to explore masculinity, embodiment, and Drag King persona in an affirmed space —no performance background required!
Across three hours, participants move through grounding practices, discussions on Drag King culture, and playful embodiment exercises that unpack posture, movement, and presence. Guided persona exploration invites each participant to experiment with archetypes, values, and signature gestures, culminating in the creation of a budding Drag King identity. The session builds toward learning a simple, low-pressure group routine that prioritises joy, connection, and collective expression.
The workshop closes with a reflective circle and gentle pathways for continued exploration, leaving participants with a deeper sense of confidence, embodiment, and creative possibility.
