Action and adventure takes over Riverway’s big screen
Get the family together and head along to Council’s free Riverway Movie Nights screening of Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon this Friday night.
14 May 2026

A fun family-friendly flick will light up the silver screen this Friday when Riverway Movie Nights presents Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon.
Set in a fictional region of the Amazon rainforest, the PG-rated film follows the adventures of a 13-year-old girl called Ainbo as she works with her friends to save her tribe’s home.
Mayor Nick Dametto said this was another great free event for families to enjoy together.
“The weather is cooling down and it’s the perfect time to pack a blanket, grab some snacks and head down to Riverway with the kids for this open-air screening of Ainbo,” Cr Dametto said.
“There’s nothing quite like capping off the week with some family fun. Our movie nights are a great opportunity to get the kids out of the house and enjoying our outdoor spaces.
“I believe the Council team that brings us Riverway Movie Nights does a great job of picking G- and PG-rated films that are entertaining and suitable for the whole family.”
Riverway Movie Nights’ screening of Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon starts at 6pm this Friday at Riverway Oval. For more information visit the What's On Townsville event listing.
