Mayor Nick Dametto:
Townsville City Council is proud to announce that in the last 12 months, we've seen over 1255 blocks of land approved here for construction in Townsville, a ten year high, for construction here in Townsville when it comes to residential blocks.
Simon Walker:
Demand for housing in Townsville is really strong at the moment, both for owner occupiers and investors.
The Townsville community is growing and it's really important that both developers and all levels of Government work together.
Mayor Nick Dametto:
One thing as Townsville Mayor that I'm very proud of, with the housing crisis nationwide right now, we are building our way out of this problem with approvals and partnerships with the State Government we’re unlocking more blocks of land than ever.
Knowing that the State Government and the Federal Government recognise this and see Townsville as a strategic growth point for Northern Australia is so important for unlocking these blocks of land, but also making sure that we've got the trunk infrastructure and the Residential Activation Funds in place to make sure blocks of land can be developed and put onto the market at a price where people can still afford.
