What an incredible day here at Eco Fiesta 2026 here in Anderson Gardens. From the sustainability awards to vibrant dance performances, live music and interactive community drum circle, the energy lasted all day.
It's been a really beautiful day for the community. We've been learning a lot about birds and bees and habitat restoration. It's been really special to see everyone enjoying engaging with our stalls. We're here sharing some information about what goes into what rubbish bin here in Townsville. This gives us an opportunity to reflect on life in the dry tropics. We've got a Ramsar listed wetlands. We're home to over 400 of the 800 Australian bird species. One of my favourite fun facts about birds is that they navigate the world using magneto reception. They can sense the magnetic waves and magnetic fields in the earth and that's how they travel and navigate.
Eco Fiesta showed how small everyday actions can make a big difference while bringing our community together. Sustainability is really important to protect our environment and make it better for the future. Thank you for being part of Eco Fiesta and we can't wait to see you all here again in 2028. I love
