John Blessas – Photographic Prize Panel
John Blessas is a Photographic Society of Queensland (PSQ) Accredited Judge based in Mackay. While he initially worked as an electrician, John plainly states: “I have always been a photographer. After an accident, I had time on my hands and joined a couple of camera clubs. WOW! That opened my eyes to a different world.”
Since 2014, John has been working as a PSQ Accredited Judge and for a while was the Chair of the PSQ Judges Executive. His judging philosophy, as he says, “is to see the point of view of the author of the work” and to remember: “don’t be locked in by ‘rules and traditions’”.
