Works to commence on Lakeside Drive fence
Works to erect a new timber fence alongside Lakeside Drive will commence this week, improving privacy and reducing traffic noise along the busy road.
18 November 2025

The works, delivered by local contractor UrbanScapes & Constructions, will see a 2.4m-high timber fence spanning around 316m constructed at the site.
Divisional councillor Brady Ellis said he was keen to see the delivery of a like-for-like replacement of the previous fence at the site.
"It took a bit of manoeuvring, but we managed to get all the relevant parties on board and get the result that Idalia residents wanted," Cr Ellis said.
I'll be proud and relieved when the final nail goes into this fence, both physically and metaphorically-speaking
Division 10 Councillor Brady Ellis
The previous timber fence adjacent to Lakeside Dr, between Oonoonba Road and Lakeland Boulevard, was removed in early 2024 as it was dilapidated and had reached end-of-life.
The fence had been constructed by a developer on Council land some years prior, and was not a planning requirement nor an acoustic fence.
Council planted a natural sound barrier in its place, which consisted of more than 30 native, mature trees.
Based on community consultation and public feedback collected since, Council has prioritised reconstructing the fence and the necessary budgetary allocations were passed in June.
Site works will start on 21 November and are due to be completed by the end of the year, weather and other conditions-permitting.
