CCTV Privacy Collection Notice
Townsville City Council (Council) operates Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras throughout the local government area to support community safety, protect Council assets and infrastructure, prevent and investigate unlawful activity, and assist in the management of incidents and complaints.
Council collects personal information through its CCTV network, which may include images of individuals, vehicles and vehicle registration numbers captured within the camera's field of view. If you enter an area monitored by CCTV, your image and related information may be collected and recorded.
Any personal information collected through CCTV is managed in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld). CCTV footage will only be accessed by authorised Council officers and will generally not be disclosed outside Council unless authorised or required by law. This may include disclosure to the Queensland Police Service or other law enforcement agencies. The information is not likely to be disclosed outside Australia.
