The Seniors Guide to Council 2016 is a comprehensive list of the range of council services that are available for Townsville seniors.
The purpose of this guide is to provide Townsville seniors with brief information on the diverse range of council services and how these services can be accessed by seniors and their families in our community.
It is important that all members of our community have information to access council services and this guide is one strategy that will assist our senior community members to access community and council information.

Pensioner Transport Subsidy Scheme
The Pensioner Transport Subsidy Scheme (PTSS) is a program designed to help permanent Townsville pension card holders with an affordable way to access and participate in community activities.
The recipients of the PTSS bus card are eligible for a discount on local public transport.
In addition to receiving the same discount on Magnetic Island bus travel, all eligible recipients who permanently reside on Magnetic Island are also eligible to receive 20 ferry vouchers per annum. Each ferry voucher entitles pensioners to a $3.00 discount.
A valid Pension Card must be presented when purchasing tickets for the bus and ferry. Ferry voucher holders may use more than one voucher per ticket purchase.
How to apply
Eligible residents can apply for Pensioner Transport Subsidy Scheme Cards and Ferry Vouchers either;

- Complete one of the following forms;

Council offers a concession to eligible owners who are the holder of an approved pensioner concession card*. Annual dog registration costs differ depending on whether the dog is desexed or entire. Annual registration and approvals need to be renewed by 31 August each year.

Approved Pension - is a person who: * is and remains the holder of a Queensland "Pensioner Concession Card" issued by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans' Affairs Health Card (All conditions within Australia) or Department of Veterans Affairs Health Card (Totally and Permanently incapacitated).
