Active City Plan Amendments
Townsville City Council is committed to continuously maintaining and improving the Townsville City Plan.
Major Amendment (Version 2025/01)
The purpose of Major Amendment (Version 2025/01) is to streamline the development assessment process and make it easier to deliver supported development in appropriate locations. It is supported by the following key objectives:
- aligning the planning scheme with prevailing planning instruments and legislation
- supporting development opportunities that contribute to a strong economy
- providing maintenance and administrative improvements to the planning scheme.
Bushfire Resilience Amendment
The Bushfire Resilience Amendment proposes to update how bushfire risk is identified, mapped, and managed in the City Plan, to better protect people, property and the environment.
The affected sections of the Townsville City Plan are:
- updates to Part 3 Strategic framework
- updates to Part 5 Tables of assessment
- new Bushfire overlay code in Part 8
- updates to Schedule 1 Definitions and Schedule 2 Mapping
- new Bushfire planning scheme policy in Schedule 6.
