Invasive Plants & Animals

Council is responsible for managing invasive biosecurity matters in the Townsville local government area. This involves implementing the Townsville City Biosecurity Plan PDF, 3.6 MB, establishing practices to prevent the introduction of new invasive species and strategies to eradicate existing invasive species in small numbers. It also includes taking measures to reduce the risks associated with established invasive plants and animals in Townsville, liaising with land managers, and enforcing the Biosecurity Act 2014.
